Bringing Imagination to Life Through Art
Hello! I’m Devin Goodman, the first apprentice at Mini Freak Studios and proud younger brother of Jesse. Growing up, I always felt I had a vivid imagination, but I struggled to find the right way to express it. It wasn’t until I visited my brother one day and mustered up the courage to pick up a brush that everything changed. Since that moment, I’ve been passionately exploring the art of painting, eager to improve my skills—hoping to turn my love for miniatures into a fulfilling career.
Gaining Confidence
Confidence was never my strong suit. I often doubted my ability to learn anything intricate or exciting. However, painting my first model sparked something within me, igniting a newfound hope. Each completed miniature fills me with joy, and it becomes exhilarating to push my boundaries by trying new techniques or materials. I thrive on that sense of achievement, and with every piece I finish, my confidence grows a little stronger.
"I didn't grow up with much self confidence, often thought i wasn't capable of learning anything cool or too complex. But painting my first model gave me a little spark of hope, and now I feel it surge every time I complete a miniature, bonus points if I used something new on it."
Love of Warhammer 40K
My introduction to the Warhammer 40K universe didn’t come through miniatures initially but through the RTS game "Dawn of War." The designs of the Space Marines running across the battlefield captured my imagination and inspired countless scenarios that played out in my mind. Holding a miniature in my hand allows me to visualize its role in epic battles, giving the figure life as it prepares for its stage. This love for the lore and the artistic details in Warhammer 40K fuels my passion to paint and create custom miniatures, blending my imagination with artistry.
My Artistic Journey at Mini Freak Studios
Joining Mini Freak Studios has been an exciting journey for me. As an apprentice, I’m learning from the best while doing what I love most. My goal is to develop my painting skills further and one day become a skilled custom miniatures artist in my own right. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to work alongside talented artists, including my brother, and to contribute to projects that allow others to bring their gaming experiences to life.
